The Rest Five Blizzard's Game Design Rules Shared By Rob Pardo

Providing incentives: Players do not like the penalty but are very happy to obtain a reward. Rob Pardo said World of Warcraft's rest system belongs to this case. In the beginning, the players who were due to play the game too long time would be fine (the game state Note: For example, experience reduce from 100% to 50%), and this makes them very offensive, but Pardo changed the system so that the rest players get 200% experience, but player who do not have a rest keep 100% experience. From the mathematical point of view, this system is actually not much changed, but the players just love this adjustment.

Reduce the control on player: In order not to affect the gameplay, Blizzard had to give up some cool animation and special effects.
